C'était le 15 mars 2016, une semaine avant les attentats de Bruxelles : une équipe policière belgo-française perquisitionne un appartement au 1er étage du 60, rue du Dries à Forest. Les Unités spéciales n'ont pas été mobilisées car la planque est réputée "froide" : les compteurs ont été coupés deux mois plus tôt.

Un policier utilise un bélier pour faire sauter la serrure. Quand la porte s'ouvre, les policiers sont pris sous le feu. Une balle déchire le holster du policier qui était en première ligne, emportant le pontet de son pistolet. Les policiers ripostent aux tirs et atteignent un des trois occupants à la jambe.
